Cold Storage Containers

Cold Storage Container can refer to any type of container large or small which is used to store items in a cold environment. They can range from a small table top or bedside refrigerator to very large walk in refrigerators that are used in many catering services.

There are many different types of containers including portable cold storage containers that are commonly seen being hauled along the road by large trucks or Lorries. These types are better known as articulated Lorries or reefers.

Refrigerated containers provide an excellent alternative to more costly purpose built walk in freezers and chill boxes. These types of containers are portable and can be delivered to almost any location depending on the road network. They can operate and hold any temperature between minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit and plus 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperature control is simple and is as easy as controlling the temperature of any household fridge.

Many of these portable units are insulated to an R-40 factor. The walls are manufactured from easy to clean stainless steel, and the T-grid aluminum flooring is designed to enable forklift traffic. They are operated and powered by electricity by using 220 volt or 440 volt three phase power.

These types of containers are ideal for any items or products that need to be stored and maintained at a specific temperature and some of the items that can be safely stored and transported are:

o Fruits and vegetables
o Meat and seafood
o Resin and plastic
o Beer and wine
o Pharmaceuticals and animal vaccines
o Ice cream and frozen yoghurt.

These large cold storage containers are available in different sizes and some of these include:

o 20ft container: 24ft container: 40ft Hi-Cube container

Cold storage containers are used for transporting items at specific temperatures and are part of the 'cold chain' which is a temperature controlled supply chain.

Cold chains are used in the pharmaceutical and food industries and some chemical shipments. Cold chains are extremely important in the supply of vaccines that are supplied to distant locations in hot or warm climates.
